This one comes together in five minutes or less depending on how powerful your your microwave is. So, it's quick yet decadent but economical dessert to take to a potluck or a tailgate or to add to a sparse looking holiday dessert table.
Do you ever forget that you’re supposed to go somewhere and bring a dessert until you get home from work and you really don’t wanna go back out and then go back home make whatever it is and then head out again to your event?
Smores Dip is your solution. You use pantry ingredients that you have no reason not to keep on hand if you like to make desserts.
If you're a fan of dessert dips, you must try making Cannoli Cream or Mascarpone cream or Little Debbie Christmas Tree Dip. This recipe is part of my Desserts to Make When the Pantry is Bare feature.
How to Make S'mores Dip
You're really just microwaving and stirring chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk for about 3 minutes in total. Maybe four. Then adorning the dip with little pools of marshmallow fluff or marshmallow cream, which is the same thing.
Ingredients

Chocolate chips (I used Nestle semi-sweet morsels because that's what I had in the baking cabinet, you could swap milk or dark also or your favorite brand.) The chocolate will form the base of the dip so make sure you like it.
Sweetened condensed milk (I buy the store brand wherever I am. Just don't buy evaporated milk by mistake, the dip won't turn out.)
Marshmallow Fluff (you can't have s'mores dip without marshmallow.) Alternatives: Marshmallow cream or melt a few large marshmallows instead by popping the bowl back in the microwave. Just be careful, marshmallows catch fire easily when heated. Don't walk away from the microwave while doing this.
More S'mores Recipes
Being a former Girl Scout and a lover of all things sweet, s'mores recipes are an integral part of my site. It all started with helping people find substitutes for graham crackers when they ran out while making s'mores and how to make s'mores as well as how to make air fryer s'mores.
You might like to make s'mores cookies or s'mores bars or s'mores mini tarts.
Step by Steps
Pour chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir. Then add 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk.

Heat in microwave in 30 second increments stirring thoroughly after each heating segment.

This is how it should look when it's done.

Stir thoroughly and scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl until chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk have become one homogeneous mixture.
Pour dip into a microwave safe serving bowl so it looks prettier (optional).

Drop spoonfuls of marshmallow fluff over the top.
Drag the tip of a knife or a skewer through the fluff to make designs.

What Can Go Wrong With This Dip
If you get confused and use evaporated milk instead of sweetened condensed, this dip will turn into a soupy mess.
These ingredients are usually sold to next to each other in the grocery store baking aisle so people often get confused or get distracted and grab the wrong can.
This recipe will not turn out with evaporated milk. You must use sweetened condensed.
A can of sweetened condensed milk will be heavier and the liquid quite thick and viscous in comparison with evaporated milk.
Overheating the chocolate chips when you're first starting to make the dip.
Scorched chocolate does not taste good. If your chocolate chips smell like they're burning, toss the ingredients and start over.
If chocolate chips get too hot they can clump together.
Avoid this by heating only in 30 second increments or less and thoroughly stirring the bowl and scraping the bottom and sides after each increment. This will help you to avoid getting hot spots in your chocolate, which can lead to burnt chocolate
Tips for melting chocolate chips in a microwave will help you.
Serving Suggestions for Dessert Dip
Serve with strawberries, cookies or crackers or pretzels or marshmallows.
Or get creative. Think about what you would use for s'mores if you ran out of graham crackers.
Storage
If not serving immediately, cover and refrigerate.
Warm this dip in the microwave before serving if you've chilled it.
However, it can be eaten cold or at room temperature.
S'mores are both a dessert for summer and winter or fall and spring for that matter. Especially with chocolate marshmallow treats mentioned above and this s'mores dip, which can be made in a microwave.

We had marshmallow fluff leftover from another recipe and my daughter wanted to try this one next. This recipe was waaaay better. She loves smores from a camping trip she went on this summer and picked this recipe herself! Now she wants to make it for her friends when they come over. Thanks!

Thanks! This is a good recipe for older kids to make themselves. Glad she enjoyed it. More cooking for her, less cooking for you is a win win!
