How to Make S'mores
The most important thing to remember when you’re making s'mores is to be prepared, especially if you’re making s'mores over a campfire.
You don’t want to balance a roasted marshmallow about to fall off your stick while opening up a box of graham crackers and then digging into the plastic sleeve to grab two graham crackers.
You could buy a fancy s'mores basket to hold over a fire but you don't need one. I'm a stick girl myself.
You also want to have the chocolate bars opened and ready to go.
In fact, break a graham cracker sheet in half and place a half of a chocolate bar on top and have it all ready for the marshmallow.
I usually use one marshmallow per s’more but you can use more if you’d like, just be prepared for extra mess.
This is handy in case you run out of graham crackers.
My favorite way to make s’mores is to sandwich the chocolate and marshmallow between two chocolate chip cookies. Or two halves of an Oreo or a peanut butter cookie.
Speaking of cookies, have you made S'mores cookies?
What about S'mores Bars, a Starbucks inspired copycat recipe?
S'mores Ingredients

If you want to get everything super melty, wrap up the s’more in foil for a few seconds.
Let’s talk about chocolate.
Hershey’s chocolate bars are really the gold standard for making a s'mores.
It’s good chocolate flavor and the bars are thin enough that they melt well when topped with a charred, melty marshmallow.
Of course, I’m assuming you like a bit of char on your marshmallow. How do you like your marshmallow?
I like marshmallows toasted until just a crispy black shell remains and the inside is a puddle of goo!
But, if you don't have chocolate bars, you could substitute anything really.
Try chocolate chips or kisses or peanut butter cups.
Or slice a Snicker's bar in half width wise.
I bet these new thin Reese's Peanut Butter Cups would be Ahhhhmazing in s'mores.
While I was writing this, I went down a rabbit hole on Amazon and found Reese's peanut butter sauce. I had no idea such a thing even existed.
Check the reviews. One says it reminded her of sundaes from her childhood.
