What You Need: Jell-O syringe shots recipe

- 16 1-Ounce or larger Jello Shot Syringes
- Medium Mixing Bowl
- Spatula or spoon
- 1 3-Ounce Box Strawberry Jello
- 1 Cup Boiling Water
- 1 Cup Chilled Vodka
How to Make Jell-O Syringe Shots Recipe

- Add the Jell-O and boiling water to a medium mixing bowl and stir until the Jell-O is fully dissolved. This step is important, as you don’t want the jello powder to clog the syringes.
- Add vodka and stir again.
- Put the Jell-O into the syringes. Fill it just past the 1-ounce point.
- Turn the syringe upside down so that the tip is in the air. Give the syringe a flick so that the air bubbles go to the tip, and then slowly press the plunger of the syringe until all the air has escaped and the jelly is flush with the tip.
- Place the end cap on the syringe and store them, cap down, in a cup or something similar.
- Chill for 2 hours or until set. Serve and enjoy!
Test Tube Shot Variations
This recipe was tested using vodka, but you can swap that out for rum or tequila OR a flavored vodka 😋.
Change the Jell-O flavor. Green or purple would be equally spooky as red.
These were made for Halloween, but this syringe shot recipe would also be great for a nursing school graduation party or a physician's graduation.

How to Fill Syringes for Jello Shots
You can fill the party syringes two ways:
Put the tip of the clean syringe into the bowl of jello before it sets, and draw the plunger back to fill the syringe.
Or you can remove the plunger but leave the tips and pour the jello into the syringe through the top, and then replace the plunger (this is not the best method because you'll end up with a lot of air).

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you make syringe Jell-O shots without alcohol?
Yes! Just swap the vodka for cold water, lemon-lime soda, or fruit juice. You’ll still get the creepy syringe effect, but they’ll be family-friendly and safe for kids or non-drinkers.
How far in advance can I make syringe shots?
You can make them up to 3 days before your party. Keep them refrigerated with the caps on so they don’t dry out. They actually firm up more overnight, which makes them easier to serve.
How do I transport Jell-O syringe shots to a party?
Stand them tip-down in a tall cup, pitcher, or even a plastic container filled with rice to keep them upright. Pop a lid on the container, and they’ll travel without spilling.
Do I need to use real syringes?
Nope—these are novelty plastic syringes made for parties. They’re sold in multipacks and are much larger than medical syringes, making them safe and perfect for filling with Jell-O.
Can I use rum, tequila, or flavored vodka instead of plain vodka?
Absolutely. Rum and tequila work well, and flavored vodkas (like cherry, citrus, or whipped cream) can add a fun twist. Match the Jell-O flavor to your booze for the best combo.
How long do syringe Jell-O shots take to set?
Plan for at least 2 hours in the fridge. If you need them faster, cut the cold liquid slightly with ice water to help them firm up quicker.

Jell-O Syringe Shots Recipe
Get ready to spook up your Halloween party with these fun and easy red Jello syringe shots. Perfect for adding a creepy, mad scientist vibe to your festivities, these jiggly shots are not only eye-catching but delicious too.
Ingredients
- 1 3-ounce box strawberry Jell-o
- 1 Cup boiling water
- 1 Cup chilled vodka
Instructions
- Add the Jell-O and boiling water to a medium mixing bowl and stir until the Jell-O is fully dissolved. This step is important, as you don’t want it to clog the syringes.
- Add the vodka and stir again.
- Suck the jello into the syringes by putting the tips of the clean syringes into the bowl of jello before it sets.. Draw the plunger back to fill the syringe. Fill it just past the 1-ounce point.
- Turn the syringe upside down so that the tip is in the air. Give the syringe a flick so that the air bubbles go to the tip, and then slowly press the plunger of the syringe until all the air has escaped and the Jell-O is flush with the tip.
- Place the end cap on the syringe and store them, cap down, in a cup or something similar.
- Chill for 2 hours or until set.
Serve and enjoy!
Notes
You want to keep the jello thin enough so that when it sets up, it won’t be super hard to squirt the shot into your mouth.
If you want them even thinner than the recipe, you can add a bit more vodka, but be careful, or they won’t set up at all.
Don’t rest the tip of the syringes on the bottom of the bowl to fill them. You don’t want to end up with leftover Jell-O residue.
