Slow Cooker to the Rescue!
Have you cooled off yet? The nation has just had a massive heat wave. It was even scorching here on the Maine coast.
I think it hit 97 here in Blue Hill.
I had the presence of mind to throw a roast in the slow cooker in the morning.
So, we had roast beef sandwiches for dinner. They were delicious and easy. I’m going to share the recipe next week.
But, I’ll be honest and say I often end up getting takeout if it’s too hot to cook.
Having said that, it’s rarely too hot to cook in Maine.
I think Saturday was the hottest day we’ve had in several years.

I’ve had this slow cooker for several years and love it. It’s simple to use. It has three settings: high, low and warm.
My next slow cooker, I’ll stick with the Crock-Pot brand but I’m planning to buy a wi-fi operated slow cooker so I can turn it down or off remotely.
If I’m out and the slow cooker needs to be turned off because my day is running longer than expected, I’d like to be able to turn it off myself.
No matter how many calls and text messages I send the husband and the teenager, the slow cooker always gets forgotten or the message to turn it off lost in translation!
