Hello my lovelies,
How are you? What are you doing this fine last week of July? I am all kinds of happy because I’m taking a five day weekend, starting tomorrow. And, we’re supposed to hit possibly 90 degrees F, which is perfect swimming weather. 90 degree days are pretty rare, as in almost non-existent here on the coast so anytime you can swim without having to bring along a fleece or a long sleeve shirt to throw over your bathing suit when you get out of the water it’s a spectacular day.
Have you been engaging in any summery activities or are you lodged in somewhere so hot you’re not supposed to leave the air-conditioning? Tell me all about it.
Onward and upward to the Stuff I Gotta Share and You’ve Gotta See.
First up, an app from a yoga teacher I really like, YogabyCandace, whom I didn’t realize was developing an app. It was a really great surprise to see it show up in my Instagram feed last weekend.
Here’s a snippet from the app description:
“Finally, you can access all of YouTube YogaByCandace videos in an instant… For free on your mobile phone! Separated by category, this app makes it easy to find your favorite YouTube videos, and exclusive tips.”
Apps are supposed to do one of two things: entertain or make your life easier. The YBC app definitely makes it easier to practice yoga. I can choose from 15-minute videos to 60 minute videos to morning yoga videos, afternoon or evening yoga videos, just to name a few of the options inside the app.
Candace also has her website forum in the app as well.
Because I’ve had consistently enjoyable practices with Candace’s videos, I signed up for the $1.99 a month exclusive content, which includes a monthly video download, which won’t be available anywhere else.
Have you tried yoga before? If you’re starting out, there’s no substitute for a class with a teacher who can watch your posture and make suggestions. But, if you’re like me and have been practicing for a few years and can’t get to your teacher regularly, youtube videos are hugely helpful.
What I really like about Candace is the simplicity and straightforwardness of her videos, including her instruction. There’s no hippie dippie music in the background, it’s just her on a mat, leading you through a practice and making form suggestions.
Have you ever eaten a Goetze Caramel Cream candy? You know Goetze, they also make Cow Tales. I’ve tried the caramels and they are quite tasty. And now, you can put them in a barbecue sauce.
I don’t have fresh tomatoes in my garden yet but this quiche looks tasty once I do.
Mr. 46 and Mr. 12 will shovel this stuff in by the spatula-full. Not sure if I should attempt a homemade version, they might dunk their faces in it.
I discovered that one of the secret tools behind cool nail art designs is Liquid Palisade, like painter’s tape for your nails. I must get some stat. Have you tried Liquid Palisade before or something similar?
Should women of a certain age stop baring their upper arms? One woman speaks out.
So, you’re reading this but soon you’re going to leave for a nature hike and of course you want to bring your iPhone because
a) the phone is always tethered to your wrist and
b) you want to take photos during said nature walk
but, your battery is low.
Of course you’re charging your battery but the husband and dog are chomping at the bit so the chances of it being fully charged before they drag you out the door is slim to none and you don’t want to run out of power mid-shot during the walk. Did you know that your iPhone will charge faster if you go to settings and put it in airplane mode first?
Learn that tip plus several more iPhone shortcuts.
Please, tell me what I’ve missed. Leave any comments, links, photos or videos you need to share and I need to see in the comments. 🙂
