Hi lovely, how are you?
I am cold. It is June 1 and I am cold. I am wearing my fleece leggings, fleece socks and you guessed it, a fleece pullover. The only reason I’m not wearing wool is because hello, it’s June 1. I’ve got to save some of my high impact warm clothing for December through April. I can’t complain though. May was glorious in Maine, sunny most days and warmer than usual although a bit dry.
Here is the latest iteration of Really Great Things and Links I Love #44. We’re going with Stuff I Gotta Share and You’ve Gotta See this week. Chime in, if you’d like, on what we should call this weekly series. Email me at [email protected]
To Read:
From E.L. James, whose smoking hot pen gave us the #50 Shades of Grey trilogy, comes a new book on June 18th. James has written a novel from flawed hero Christian Grey’s point of view. The new book is called “Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told By Christian,” and you can read all about it here.
Did you read the first book or the series? I did and I got suckered into it with marketing. I walked into the bookstore one day and spied across the room, a giant sign that stated, “this is the book all your friends are talking about.” Well, I hadn’t heard my friends talking about any 50 Shades of Grey book so I picked it up and thought I better read it in case they did start talking about. However, most of my reading friends work for the newspaper and newspaper people are complete snobs when it comes to their reading material. But not me, I have no shame, I’ll read anything. And I prefer pulp fiction after using my cognitive functions all day.
Back to more Stuff I’ve Gotta Share and You’ve Gotta See:
Summer is a time for eating light, which means vegetable dishes, particularly paired with pasta for staying power.
I haven’t made any pasta salad yet but I’ll definitely be employing a few of these tips when I do.
To Make and Drink:
Pasta with Fried Lemons and Chile Flakes
Greens and onions are the only vegetables at my farmers markets right now. However, I’m preparing for the day when there will be an abundance of all varieties of vegetables with these 20 vegetable recipes from The Kitchn.
I have blueberries in the freezer and limes in the fridge so I think this sweet loaf is in my future.
Got kids? You’ll want to try making homemade gummy Lego candy while they’re sleeping.
To Do:
Have you taken a Myers Briggs personality type test yet? Apparently it’s all the rage among bloggers. I haven’t taken one because I don’t like to do what everyone else is doing. My Myers Briggs type is “Fly Solo” aka “March to My Own Beat” aka “Do What I Want When I Want.” However, if you know what your type is, you can find out what type of kitchen you should have.
Your Useful Kitchen Tip:
Here’s what to do with that last tablespoon or two of coffee grounds you always have left in the bag.
So, tell me what you’ve gotta share and I’ve gotta see this week! Leave a comment.
Peace out,
Jennifer, the Kitchen Serf
