If you are as passionate about citrus as I am, you need a microplane zester, which helps you grate every bit of skin off a citrus fruit without getting any of the bitter pith (white part). I have owned and used this one for years.
Viva la Citrus!
One of the best things about winter in the U.S. is the arrival of citrus season. Lemons, Meyer Lemons, mandarin oranges, blood oranges and grapefruits are jumbled in the produce aisle of the grocery stores waiting for your next cookie or cocktail creation. Here are four of my favorite recipes using lemon:
Lemon cookies, bars and bite-size treats are an easy but elegant dessert. Here are some of my favorites Imagine a thick, zesty lemon curd. Then imagine it on top of a buttery, flaky pastry dough. Those are these lemon bars. Delicate and crisp, lemon shortbread heart cookies are perfect to serve with tea or espresso. Or, frankly, a glass of wine as well. Lemon Drop Martinis, made with just three ingredients, are easy cocktails to make after work or after a long day in the garden. Arnold Palmer Cookies are easier than they look. Make a drop lemon cookie dough. Make an ice-team drop cookie dough. Roll into balls, pinch the balls together and bake. Glaze with a lemon icing. Delicious!Lemon Treats + a Lemon Drop Martini
