I hope you enjoy this photo I shot of a white rose growing in Stonington. While researching white roses, I found a fun quote by a French critic and writer named Alphonse Karr, who lived many moons ago. Karr was a bit of a satirist as well as a devotee of all of things floral.
According to the great source, Wikipedia, Karr’s epigrams are frequently quoted:
Wikipedia says Karr gave his name to more than one new variety of flower, including the dahlia (New International Encyclopedia) and “practically founded the trade in cut flowers on the French Riviera.”
