Now, onto what could possibly turn out to be the great Pumpkin crisis of 2021.
This year’s pumpkin crop is already showing signs of fungus, which may affect the seasonal supply, according to St. Louis Public Radio.
If pumpkin pie is critical to your festivities, pick up a couple of cans now while you can find them.
St. Louis Public Radio reports the fungus known as phytophthora has been responsible for wiping out entire pumpkin harvests in earlier years.
A Ginormous Pizza Book and Mr. New York Doesn't Win Best Pizza Any More
Move over NY and Chicago, the best pizza in the U.S. is found in Portland, Oregon, according to the authors of a three volume, nearly 1,700 page tome called Modernist Pizza, which will be released Oct. 5.
Modernist Pizza includes the history of pizza, more than 1,000 recipes, pizza-making techniques and tools plus tips on where to get the best pie.
Other towns making the best pizza list:
- Los Angeles
- New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Tri-State area
- Old Forge, Pennsylvania
- Quad Cities in Iowa and Illinois
- San Francisco
- St. Louis
