Fri-yay is slang now for Friday when you’re yaying about it.
Are you planning to see the Downton Abbey film? It comes out next Friday, Sept. 20.
Husband and I want to see it but I don’t know when we’re going to fit it in.
Speaking of high tea, you know, because the Crowley’s are British, I found really cute fall-themed tea tags you can print out for free.
What to Make with Expiring Pumpkin Puree?
Speaking of fall, it’s time for all things pumpkin, don’t you know.
I was hunting through my cupboard and found a big can of pumpkin puree, which is to expire next month.
So, I could pre-make pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving and freeze them but it seems a little early to me.
Plus, the husband and son seem to have fradar–that’s freezer radar for anything that’s been stored in the freezer for more than a week. So that will never do.
Pumpkin muffins may seem like the obvious choice but muffins aren’t really my jam.
I thought about making pumpkin cookies but again, never really met a pumpkin cookie I liked.
So, I’m thinking I’ll make pumpkin spice granola, a few pumpkin pie martinis, pumpkin pasta and perhaps some pumpkin bread baked in a can.
I love bread baked in a can like brown bread. I think it’s all my Britishness. My pop originated in the UK.
Here are some ideas for how to use up pumpkin puree if you’re in the same predicament:
Since fall is here upon us and perhaps you’ll be baking more, it’s time to freshen up your spices.
At a minimum you’ll want to buy cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
Don’t buy jars of spices, even if you do a lot of baking. That’s expensive and you’re not getting fresh.
