Hi there,
Thanks for stopping by my weekly gratitude list aka
5 Things I’m Loving This Week
I’ve got a podcast, flowers and a recipe to share with you.
But topping the list:
Dental insurance is the first thing I’m loving this week.
Thanks to my newspaper being acquired by a chain of newspapers, I have access to dental insurance for the first time in 20 years.
And, it’s affordable!
I’m actually writing this from the office right now while the teenager has a cleaning.
Forget-Me-Nots are one of my favorite flowers. They are tiny, delicate, blue and last forever in a vase.
Milk Street Radio is number two on the list.
Milk Street is Christopher Kimball‘s latest endeavour. Kimball is a co-founder of America’s Test Kitchen, which includes the Cook’s Illustrated and Cook’s Country magazines.
There’s a test kitchen TV show too, but I’ve never seen it.
Kimball’s Milk Street includes the aforementioned podcast, a magazine, a cookbook and more.
I like the podcast because Christopher covers a bunch of food and cooking topics in bite-size segments. Perfect for dipping in and out on a busy day on the road. I don’t think I’ve heard any segments longer than 15 minutes.
Forget-Me-Nots scavenged from a hillside by my favorite gourmet kitchen shop, which happens to make a mean espresso drink.
Bonus, Forget-Me-Nots last forever and a day in a vase.
The five-petaled dainties are also used as a symbol for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Judy! Renee Zellweger is playing Judy Garland in a film out this fall. It looks sad but good.
I wonder if it was made because this year is the 80th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz, also known as my favorite childhood movie.
I watched it every spring. It always aired around Easter and it was so magical. I coveted those ruby slippers!
This was the early 70’s, before there was a never-ending parade of movies on TV and many families only had three channels that shut down after midnight.
Are you old enough to remember those days?
Vintage Cookie Recipes I’m making a cookie this weekend called Forgotten Cookies.
They’re like a meringue cookie but with mix-ins like chocolate chips, dried cherries, pistachios, anything you like really.
They are called Forgotten cookies because you leave them in a cool oven overnight.
