Happy Wednesday peeps,
Let’s discuss our memories of Easter and sugar. Did you know the holiday is really early this year? March 27th, which is two weeks from this Sunday.
When I was say a preteen, my late grandmother always gave me a basket full of candy, which when I got older included a giant chocolate egg filled with “heavenly hash.” I think it must have been made by See’s or Russell Stover, since we lived in St. Louis. The other option was Karl Bissinger’s but I don’t think she shopped there.
Heavenly Hash, if you’re not familiar, is a mixture of almonds and miniature marshmallows encased in chocolate. I wasn’t so nuts about it but I ate it anyway because it was sweet and I liked sweet things. It was a while after the heavenly hash egg years that I ate chocolate and marshmallow combinations of anything.
What memories of spring holiday sweets do you have? How did you decorate eggs?
If you want to make Easter treats for the holiday, here are a few ideas:
What’s on your menu for Easter dinner? I will probably make a ham. Mr.’s 47 and 12 love a glazed ham. We’ll probably have asparagus for a side dish and maybe a green salad. I’m always pushing a green salad. One thing I cannot stand is an egg salad. Just looking at it makes me slightly nauseous. Let me know if you’re making an egg salad with all your leftover eggs so I know not to come over. 🙂
Have a great holiday,
