Happy New Year my friend! I wish that you have a safe, healthy, happy, prosperous, creative 2016.
Do you have today off or are you working? I am at home, I’ve done yoga, kissed on Mr. 12 and his father.
And I just had one of my favorite breakfasts–a couple slices of ciabatta slathered with butter, washed down with hot, black coffee and followed by a fabulous chocolate from Bissinger’s. (Thank you mommy dearest for the Christmas chocolates.)
Did you know if you have a chocolate or a piece of candy with your breakfast on New Year’s Day you’ll have a sweet year? Okay I don’t know if that’s really true or not but it sounds good, doesn’t it?
And now, I’m making hoppin’ john with the remains of our Christmas ham. I’m trying a new Crock-Pot recipe that I found on Food52. Note, the Food52 recipe doesn’t use any ham or bacon but I think Hoppin John needs a bit of meat for flavor. Also, their recipe calls for collard greens. I’ll probably use kale. You do want to use a leafy green because that represents money in the new year. 🙂
Tell me what your New Year’s Day menu entails. I like to roast a turkey for sandwiches while I’m home on the holiday but turkeys have been scarce up in these parts. How about where you are?
