5 Things I’m Loving Lately + Amazing Laundry Detergent
Hola, mi amor,
I am going to tell you about something I never, ever in a million years thought I would rave about: an Amazing Laundry Detergent.
I never thought I would rave about a laundry detergent, especially one that’s exclusively sold at Walmart. Because
A. I’m not a huge Walmart fan and
B. I don’t like it when one retailer has exclusive rights to sell something like laundry detergent. Concert tees are one thing, detergent is another.
But, I’m in laundry love. Here’s my story. And no, this is not an affiliate link or a sponsored post. I have no affiliation with the detergent or Walmart.
I’d been using off brand detergent-whatever I could buy cheap and with a coupon because, hello, it’s laundry detergent. But, our clothes hadn’t been getting clean enough so I was going to go back to Tide. Before I went shopping, I decided to google what detergent had been getting the best reviews.
I saw an article citing a recent Consumer Reports about a detergent called Persil, which apparently has scored higher than any other detergent the magazine has ever tested, including Tide. Persil isn’t new. It’s been sold in Europe for eons.
And I love it. So #1 of my five things I’m loving lately is Persil ProClean Power Liquid 2-in-1.
I used this magical laundry liquid for the first time Saturday and our clothes are cleaner than they’ve ever been. Whites are bright, colors are crisp and there are no stains anywhere. It even got out a soy sauce stain on a blouse from date night with Mr. 47. There are a couple of different varieties so it’s important to get the ProClean.
“Persil ProClean Power Liquid 2-in-1 is our new top-rated detergent, beating out the previously number one Tide Plus Ultra Stain Release by a decent margin, though both products are excellent overall.”- Consumer Reports
The magazine says Persil is the same price as Tide but it’s more expensive at the Walmart I went to. Not a lot more but a bit. Maybe an extra $2 a jug. I think I paid $10 for a 57-ounce container. And c’mon, it’s laundry. Who likes to do laundry? It’s a Chore. If you’ve got to do laundry yourself, don’t you want the best results possible with your aging washing machine? Has anyone tried one of those machines that washes and dries in the same unit? I really want one.
2. Swedish Fish gum tastes just like Swedish Fish candy only it’s made by Trident so it has almost no calories. If Trident had made Swedish Fish gum years ago, I’d be two sizes smaller.
3. Essie LuxeEffects in Set in Stones
I’ve been dipping my fingers and toes into nail art lately and in recreating a look I saw on Instagram, I got Essie’s Set in Stones and I love it. It’s a clear polish with both tiny and large round pieces of silver glitter, giving a kind of disco ball effect. It looks great on its own or as an accent or painted over another color–light or bright. It can be layered so you can make it look more razzle dazzle or less.
4. 100 ounces of water a day. That’s right. I’ve been, with the exception of last week, drinking at least 100 ounces of plain water a day and I love it.
Did it take a little getting used to? Yes.
Was I running to the bathroom constantly the first week? Triple yes.
But the increased energy level from being properly hydrated has been great. And bonus, no more dry, scaly lips. I used to apply Vaseline or lip balm at least a few times a day, especially before going to sleep, lest I would get dry, chapped, peeling lips.
But I haven’t had to apply any lip treatment since that first month of regular 100 ounce daily water consumption. I use lip gloss and or lipstick most days but those don’t really count as moisturizing products in my opinion. I had this revelation this morning as I was applying a sample of Too Faced liquid lipstick. I realized I couldn’t remember my last Vaseline application. Then I rubbed my lips together and found them smooth.
What are you all loving this week?
